Richard Branson

The entrepreneur, overachiever, attention seeker, adventurer, business magnate that I am investigating is called Sir Richard Nicholas Branson born, 18th of July 1950. Richard Branson is a man that makes a variety of choices to change the industrial revolution; and the determination of gaining great power, he is also the man behind one of the most successful brands in the world, he started selling CDs in his car boot that was approximately worth over 3 billion sterling, on the go from CDs, then mobiles to abroad: Virgin.

Richard Branson works in the tertiary business since the company Virgin are always providing and selling a service to the consumer. Branson first businesses were in the primary sector where he sold charismas trees; there wasn’t much spark until he signed up the sex pistols in 1970 and released his first virgin label. Richard Branson inherited many names but the 3 main names are entrepreneur, overachiever, business magnate and etc.

All skills are important for an entrepreneur, it helps the company and more people that will cooperate with his company but not just skills, Branson also benefits off the nicknames that are given, letting the customers have and better picture of Branson’s hard work and success giving young adults and unemployed a good role model. This sector suits Richard Branson, knowing what products to market, who to sign and appealing in new and unorthodox ways.

Many people know the Virgin brand better than the names of the individual companies within the group, Virgin is involved in planes, trains, finance, soft drinks, music, mobile phones, holidays, wines, publishing, space tourism, cosmetics and stores. Richard Branson keeps the business together with the value of his brands and workers.

Most entrepreneurs have had a troubled childhood or something to give them the kick start they needed, for Sir Richard Nicholas Branson he need to achieve independence at the age of four, his parents continually set up challenges intended for him to conquer, once his mother stopped just a few mile from his house “made me find my way home, across the fields” therefore making Richard Branson a individual man that searches for power. Virgin Atlantic, express, galactic and blues are very important to travelling industry, abroad flying is the world’s major business and leisure destinations.

Richard Branson’s services try to make customers more comfortable and safe; ever since the 21st century his brands have become more interesting to the world like Virgin mobile; he wanted a different kind of mobile service. Virgin gave value, choice, simplicity and fun; it gives you twice as many minutes and texts as before meaning value for the customers. Taken risk is the most important thing for any entrepreneur, if there is no business then they do not receive any money a bit like a sole trader but different in the own individual ways.

Richard Branson started brand in the 1969 when he developed his first issue of student magazine, he opened his ideal record shop in Oxford Street called Virgin as this continued, Virgin signs the sex pistols in 1977. Which he introduced a cultural club to the music industry and brought the gay night club heaven, which helped him interact with the pink (Gays) and the green pound (Environment) From 1985 – 2000 Richard Branson became more confident in his work therefore he created more brands such as holidays, megastores, hotels and etc.

Virgin Megastores arrives in Japan not long after there was Virgin Radio. The 21st century would be the biggest hit too Richard Branson this was the time when he created the most brands, a big announcement was made in 2004, and Virgin Galactic was launched space tourism. Richard Branson was educated ay Stowe School. It was here that he began to set up Student Magazine when he was just 16. By 17 he’d also set up Student Advisory centre, which was a charity to young people.

In 1970 he found Virgin as a mail order retailer, and not long after he opened a record shop in Oxford Street, London, during 1972 a recording studio was built in Oxfordshire, and the first Virgin artist, Mike Oldfield, recorded “Tubular Bells” which was released in 1973, the album sold over 5 million copies. The Virgin Group has now expanded into international music Megastores, air travel, mobile, financial, retail, internet, drinks, rail, hotel and leisure, with over 200 companies in over 30 countries.

Virgin Atlantic, formed in 1984, is now the second largest British long haul international airline and operates a fleet of Boeing in 747 by 2002 in addition to his own business; Richard is a trustee of several charities including the Virgin Healthcare foundation, a leading charity launching health education campaign relating to AIDS in 1987. Still after the ultimate adventure, in January 1991 Richard crossed the Pacific Ocean from Japan to Arctic Canada, the furthest distance of 6,700 miles.

He broke all existing records, with speeds of up to 245 miles -per hour in a balloon of 2. million cubic feet. As an entrepreneur they need to find a different approach for ideas while calculated risks that will get them a good deal. As an entrepreneur his reasons for his success is the core values which Virgin aspires to. This includes those that the general public thinks they should aspire to, like providing quality service. However, they also promise value for money, and they try to do things in an innovative way, in areas where consumers are often ripped-off, or not getting the most for their money.

Richard Branson believes they should do what he does with a sense of fun and without taking themselves too seriously, too! If Virgin stands for anything, it should be for not being afraid to take risk and new ideas (bit like a soul trader). Richard Branson aim is to let the world how successful a normal person can be if they tried also his main objective is to let the world- wide people know who Richard Branson was and what he became. As the owner of Virgin I believe, Richard Branson taking risks and chances suit his personality.

Risk taking is the tertiary sector know what is produced from markets, if Richard Branson never took the risk for his own business, he would just be a normal middle-aged man working behind the till on the other hand he does not just use any raw products he find, everyone of the products must be unique in its own way. I describe Richard Branson as person that works in the private sector (private money, work as an individual) but also a public sector for the reason that he selling to family and friends (LTD) and sell to the (PLC) so he is a bit of both.

Richard Branson describes himself as a person for profit but treats the business/company as a family instead of a hierarchy. Sir Richard Nicholas Branson is one of the people that earn the U. K trust and was voted as the most popular person in U. K and as he hopes worldwide, thanks to Richard Branson charisma and determination he set up small organizations in shopping centres which gave him more of advantage in stores and innovation meaning that local shops try to improve while Virgin takes it one step further with value for money, quality, competitive challenge and brilliant customer service.

I choose Richard Branson because in 1970 Virgin began with a small mail order record company and a student magazine which later became a small record shop in Oxford Street, London he signed up sex pistols probably as popular as Elvis in those days but he launched an amazing album that sold over 5 million copies internationally, also he had many good friends such as The Rolling Stones with there joint effort they made Virgin one of the six top companies in the world.

Richard Branson always wanted to build and inspire new companies, so instead of companies he made brands such as Virgin Atlantic, Virgin mobile and so on.

There is one thing that Sir Richard Nicholas Branson dislike is having a partnership, he believes having a partnership could bring his company to a downfall and he could not put enough trust in to anyone. This relates to a sole trader, Richard Branson and a sole trader haven’t got much difference to each other, they both take tremendous risks for there company, they both get individual profit but there is one thing and it is that a sole trade has a unlimited liability while Branson has a limited liability.

Richard Branson was honoured by the Conservative government in the 1980s, and was briefly given a nickname of ” litter tsar” by Margaret Thatcher charged with keeping Britain tidy, he was seen close by the Government when the Labour Party came to power in 1997. With such success he was motivated by the Government, slowly his objective was that everyone would look up to him and become more of a role model.

Richard Branson took this time to think carefully about the customers needs, what do they want? How could this be done? What change will happen? I reckon he took his chance and took advantage of the opportunity to reconstruct the market sales and asking them when they purchase an item in virgin are they badly served, is there any regulation violated, not long after his research people believed Richard Branson and his company (Virgin) He was voted as the most popular businessman in the UK thanks to his charisma.

His main objective would be people recognizing the company, which creates one of the best values from something small like a DVD to something big like a 3 week holiday in Barbados. He used his charms and charisma while also using his head at the same time. With every megastore in the whole world he only wants the best. An entrepreneur always need to think outside the box in order for the company to stay putt, Richard Branson is defiantly thinking outside the box he uses a well known phrase such as the customer is always write; making sure everyone person who works within Virgin must have a the correct type of attitude.

Not only did Richard Branson have his mind ready and charisma, he also had a lot of will power, skill are very important to a entrepreneur if he had no skills he would have no money meaning he would of never signed up the sex pistols. With the sex pistols selling over 5 million copies for their first album he made an extremely smart decision. Richard was very unsatisfied when he heard people are getting ripped off buy Virgin airlines rivals in nowadays the B.

A (British airline) he sued them for slander against his company after a long battle Virgin finally gained the upper hand, Virgin remained the major airlines in the market. I believe that not only skills and capabilities are particularly required in this sector of industry; you need to be more of a soul trade always living life on the edge taking risks. And to be a good leader you MUST never give up. Richards Branson’s high risks paid off business began to run smoothly all he needed was many satisfied customers that will return to Virgin in the future.

He learned early on to develop his delegation skills. “As much as you need a strong personality to build a business from scratch, you also must understand the art of delegation” he understands good at helping people run the individual businesses, and he had to be willing to step back… In conclusion I think that Richard Branson is one of the most successful people in the 20th industry not did only he use skill he also use will power to keep the business moving in the correct direction, he calculated his risks carefully.
