For my database assignment I used certain Properties for example I used field types and field sizes very well in my work because I changed the size of the field to fit the right amount of data in and also field types is where I choose what sort of data will be entered into my database (etc… Text, Number, and Currency) if these changes were not made my data would have given false data. These were very easy to do as I simply had to use my instinct to know what field size and field types were accurate.

Some of my fields didn’t really have to have a certain field size but I chose to put one in as for the field types it was advised for me to put them in as my data would have been entered incorrectly. It is easy to extract useful information from my database because you can easily read the information and the field are named accurately. It is simply to find certain information because there are ways you can use the database to find these information it makes it easier for the customers in the long run to be able to gather information from a certain criteria’s.

I didn’t have any problems with this area because it wasn’t as difficult as I intended it was. My validation prevents data entry errors because I have tested each and every one of my validations and they work perfectly so there will not be any data entry errors. I have also entered input mask for some of my validations these will make sure only a certain amount of numbers are entered into my database which will help people to not enter the wrong data. The good thing about having the validation in my database is that I know that the data being entered is correct and will save me a lot of time.

The qualities of my reports are moderately good they show the information that you get when searching for a certain type of data. But before I started my reports I got confused on what exactly the reports show as they were a written form of my queries but I eventually understood what they were showing. I have stated which are my primary keys and which are my foreign key and from my primary key, foreign keys and also my fields of data I have created a relationship table which shows the relation between each table and their fields. The relationship helps to show me how the data are connected together this will improve the effects of a database.

Tables make it easy for the information to be set out and read so when I created my three tables I made sure all the data were easy to read and understand. There isn’t much you can do to make the tables much more effective so I just made sure that the tables were appropriate for the data that will be entered in it. I made queries that helped to organise my data into certain category which I can also extract information from. Such as what type of bikes are being brought the most or who are buying a certain bike all these can help a company to make a lot of profit and boost sales.

I have made it clear what quires I have made to show the company’s qualities. The creations of the queries were very difficult for me as I didn’t know exactly what I was doing. Throughout the whole unit I managed to use the time I had to work on the unit very well I had no problems completing the work, the work was up to standard and handed in on time. When starting the unit I had no idea what a transactional website was this then became clear when I did some research and was taught about it.

I had to revise the skill of creating a database as I didn’t know much about databases when I started the unit but I eventually got the hang of it and was able to complete my work. I had trouble with entering the validations but I quickly resolved this issue by finding out how to place the validations into my database and make them work properly. I also came across some problems which were when I wanted to import my data , I was losing some of my data I eventually resolved this by finding out that my data was corrupted I solved this by renewing my data.

I knew what flow diagrams were and how to use them to show information also I already knew how to create a table of data through the software called Microsoft access. I had some basic skills on how security works and the different types of threats there is and how they are prevented through security but I still had to do a few more research on other threats and find ways to prevent them. I have learnt how to rearrange data , take out data , replace data and change data in my database I have also learnt how to create a relationship, queries and query reports.

I have also learnt how to make graphs to show the effects of the database. To improve my database I could do more research on how a database works and also analyse my imported data properly. I could improve on my design in the database assignment also adding more detail to my work can improve my work as a whole. I do not think that there ar4e any other areas that I can improve on. I think that the work I have currently done is done to the best of my abilities. If there were other bits that I have not noticed that need improving I will improve them.
