EID means Electronic Data Interchange its job is to send information directly between 2 computer systems there is No paper required it is a lot more efficient there less chance of errors like the information being lost. But it depends upon the systems being compatible. RFID RFID means Radio-frequency identification it is an automatic identification method, relying on storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders. The technology requires some extent of cooperation of an RFID reader and an RFID tag.
An RFID tag is an object that can be applied to or incorporated into a product, animal, or person for the purpose of identification and tracking using radio waves. Some tags can be read from several meters away and beyond the line of sight of the reader. Most RFID tags contain at least two parts. One is an integrated circuit for storing and processing information, modulating and demodulating a radio-frequency (RF) signal, and other specialized functions. The second is an antenna for receiving and transmitting the signal.
How does ICT help to bring all the parts of the system together? Cadburys have used ICT for over 30 years in their factories and offices. It brings it together because it is all connected within the Cadbury area. If one of the machines breaks down or has something wrong with it the other ones slow down so after it is fixed it can catch up easily. Cadburys has been using IT systems from the 70s onwards. Its use of SAP together as a figure of ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems goes back to 1994.
The group’s IT infrastructure was disjointed for the reason that its increase was largely driven by buying other companies in a succession of takeovers. The varied organizations that Cadburys acquired and joined as a solitary group over the years carried on using its existing IT systems. These were unsuited and various attempts to apply IT coordination scenarios in purchasing or similar settlement systems failed. The mySAP.com resolution allowed Cadburys to concentrate on exact business benefits and processes.
Integrants – It brings together all the information from all the different systems from the different departments, this then allows the finance department to be able to plan a budget and forecast knowing that the information they are using is correct and up to date. Mission Critical – This means that this system is so important to Cadbury’s they could not function with out it. The Cadburys need to make sure that this system does not stop, so they have it running on more than just one site, this means that even if one of the site’s has problems or breaks down the rest can work on as normal.
This system can only work because if all the site and departments are networked together. This Ethernet network runs t high speed between sites on fibre optic cables and uses 100mb Ethernet switches and cables in all the buildings. The mini computers at each site act as servers for all users of the network. Cadbury summary The Cadbury factory uses technology, for example computer systems and robots that run the business in the best and most efficient ways that make as much profit as they can. Automatic technology is used to make the product which reduces waste and always makes high quality goods.
When the product has finally been made Cadburys uses robots and other technology’s to help keep it and then take it to the customers. Video conferencing reduces travel and so that reduces pollution that is being caused. The use of SAP system is that all the information from the different departments in Cadburys brought together so the company can have the right information and the up to date information on the computer to help plan in advance. By using the networks they can make communications better and it also helps prevent wasted or duplicated efforts as well as making sure that every part of the system works together.
