For this unit, I have been asked to plan, organise, review and evaluate an organise an event. I will create both primary and secondary research to collect relative marketing and financial data that would assist me to create an appropriate strategy when organising an event. I will go through all the different procedures to ensure that I create a suitable The idea of organising a PlayStation 2 tournament came from a something similar which was organised a year ago.

An enterprise group held a Pro evolution soccer tournament, which was very successful and had a lot of people talking to each other. This is the reason why we decided to do something similar. And as the organisers we are well aware that there is a high interest in playing computer games. After i conduct my primary research I will be able to find out what game we will actually be playing on the Play station.

The target Market for my tournament is 6th Formers, The reason i have only decided to do this is because we want this to be a small enjoyable tournament throughout the 6th Form and we do not want to have to many entries otherwise the tournament will drag on for to long and lose a lot of interest from the audience. I am going to use the 6th form because it will be like a small bonding session, there are a lot of new students who have just started 6th form in the school and this tournament will give the students and opportunity to get to know each other.

The venue for the tournament is yet to be confirmed, but it is being planned to be taken place in one of the school rooms. The reason behind this is because it will cost very little if anything, and also there is projectors in all the rooms and this can be hooked up to the play station so it can be played on the white boards, if I was going to have the event outside the school I would need to pay for a white board or screen and I would also need to pay for a projector to display the game.

As I am holding the event within the school, I may not need very many human and physical resources, I will speak with the necessary people within the school to see if it is compulsory for my to have a teacher present to co ordinate the event, but this may not be required as the event is being run and organised by 6th formers, and the participant as also going to be 6th formers.

If I do need a teacher present at the event, I may be able to have the teacher from the department where the competition is going to take place. As I am going to have the event within the school premises I won’t be requiring any transport. This is good because there is no fee to pay to get people from one destination to another. And also after I considered it thought it would be a waste of money when the resources are available within the school.

Costs will not be a major concern for my event, as I am running the event within the school premises I will not need to rent out a place so that we can play the event and also there is a projector which is fitted within every room and these could be used to display the game on a large screen, this will prevent accidents as there will not be a big crowd around a game when it is taking place. I think that using these two main pieces of a equipment shouldn’t be a problem and therefore I will be paying for very little.

I could decide to get soft drinks which would be available but this will need to be checked as there is a lot of expensive equipment around and it may cause an accident.
